Youth and Student Organizations Unite Against Modi Government’s Decade-long Rule

– Abdul Bari Masoud

New Delhi, April 28: Various student and youth organizations across India gathered for an online news conference today to unveil “Yuva Sankalp 2024: A Call to Action for Young India.”

This initiative aims to expose what it terms as the misrule of the Modi government and urges the youth to oust the ruling party in the upcoming 2024 elections to secure a brighter future for themselves and Indian democracy.

Yuva Sankalp 2024, a collective resolution, criticizes the ruling party for issues affecting students and youth, such as costly education and widespread unemployment. It highlights concerns over declining education budgets, saffronization of education, and privatization of government jobs, among others.

The resolution also condemns the government’s handling of exam paper leaks and its failure to address rural livelihood challenges. It denounces the repression faced by protesting youth and the erosion of fundamental rights and democratic values.

Addressing the press conference were representatives from various organizations, including Govind Mishra from Yuva Halla Bol, Ankit Tyagi from Youth for Swaraj, Comrade Niranjan from All India Revolutionary Students Organization (AIRSO), Nausherwan Adil and Rahee from All India Inquilabi Youth and Students Alliance (ALIYSA), Syed Jalaluddin Zafar from Youth Welfare Telangana, Sachendra Pratap Yadav from Socialist Student Union, Shatrughan from Yuva Sangharsh Samiti, Manas from Rashtriya Yuva Sangathan, Guddi from Yusuf Meherally Yuva Biradari, and Advocate Rohit Sharma.
