Burhanpur – A 21-year-old youth, Davesh Dalal, was arrested in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, for sharing objectionable content against Muslims on Instagram. His arrest came after local Muslims staged a protest, demanding strict action.
On Tuesday night, a large number of people gathered at the Kotwali police station after offering prayers, insisting on immediate action against Dalal. They asserted that the content he posted was highly offensive and hurt religious sentiments.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Superintendent of Police Devendra Patidar and District Magistrate Harsh Singh reached the police station to assess the matter. In a swift response, police registered an FIR around 10 p.m. and took Dalal into custody. To prevent any communal unrest, a heavy police force was deployed across Burhanpur town, and a flag march was conducted as a precautionary measure.
Speaking to the media, SP Patidar confirmed that the situation was under control and that an investigation was underway. He urged citizens to refrain from sharing content that could incite religious tensions.
The police action was aimed at maintaining peace and preventing further escalation, ensuring communal harmony in the region.
