Nagpur: The Youth Movement of Maharashtra has collected 7,722 units of blood from 52 locations across the state, according to data released by the organisation. The initiative forms part of its long-running blood-donation programme, with the latest campaigns organised around Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In Nagpur, the Youth Movement of Maharashtra, in collaboration with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Nagpur West and various medical-service organisations, organised seven blood-donation camps under the theme “Islam: A Great Treasure of Human Service.” The camps together yielded 834 units of blood.
The camps were held at Sadar, Anjuman High School, Chhapde Lawn, Kidwai School, Ansar Hall, Mominpura, Dahegaon T-Point and Anjuman Polytechnic. Senior police officials, civic representatives and public representatives participated in and inaugurated different camps.
PSI Umesh Tayde of Sadar Police Station personally donated blood at the Sadar camp. DCP Zone 2 Annapurna Singh and Ganeshwar Durgadas Rakshak attended the Chhapde Lawn camp. MLA Dr Nitin Raut inaugurated the North Zone camp at Kidwai School, with Corporator Wasim Khan also in attendance.
The campaign received support from Jeevan Jyoti, Tripude, Nagpur Blood Centre, GMC, Super Speciality, Daga and IGMC blood banks.
Speaking at one of the camps, Dr Mubeen Sheikh stated that one unit of blood helps save three lives and that no substitute for blood exists. He urged every healthy person to donate blood regularly and highlighted a proposal for establishing a blood bank from Jafar Nagar to Sadar.
The statewide figures reflect a steady rise in annual blood donations over the years. With 7,722 units collected from 52 locations in 2026, the campaign demonstrates that service to humanity crosses religious and social boundaries.
