5th OIC Labour Ministers Conf. urges Member States to Support Efforts to Save Palestinian Job Market in Gaza

Israel’s aggression resulted in a loss of over 60 percent of employment opportunities in Gaza

Baku, Nov. 25: The 5th Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers (ICLM) on Friday urged the OIC Member States and concerned institutions to support the efforts of the Palestinian Ministry of Labour in safeguarding the Palestinian job market from the serious repercussions of the war on Gaza. The 2-day conference noted that the Israeli occupation’s criminal aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip has led to a loss of over 60 percent of employment opportunities. In the 48 days of continued bombings, Israel has utterly devastated Gaza.

The conference, themed “Innovative Solutions and Digitalization of Labour and Employment Services in the OIC Member States,” concluded its proceedings in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Nov. 23.

Ministers and heads of delegation who were in attendance at the conference discussed their respective countries’ experiences with digitizing social services and employment.

The ministers emphasized the necessity of creating cooperative policies that support innovation, entrepreneurship, and the expansion of small and medium-sized businesses in their conference reports, which was approved at the conclusion of the meeting.
