On March 8, 2024. The Women Education & Empowerment Trust (TWEET) orchestrated a grand commemoration of International Women’s Day, hosting a series of events dedicated to spotlighting the indispensable role of women in society and advocating fervently for their economic empowerment. Under the resounding theme of “Invest in women: Accelerate Progress,” the organization’s Head Office served as the focal point for a meticulously planned program that captured the audience’s attention with its profound messages and inspiring narratives.

The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome note delivered by Huda, the Office Coordinator at TWEET, setting a tone of enthusiasm and purpose for the gathering. Mrs. Rahamathunnissa A, Chairperson of TWEET, graced the stage to deliver a presidential address. Emphasizing the importance of women identifying and monetizing their talents, she urged women to stand on their own feet, utilizing their time and skills constructively. She highlighted the transformative potential of turning passion into business endeavors, urging women to seize opportunities for growth and empowerment.

Mrs. Shaista Rafat, General Secretary of TWEET, engaged the audience in a thought-provoking discussion on the significance of economic empowerment. Drawing upon compelling statistics and personal anecdotes, she underscored the profound impact of economic opportunities on the lives of women and girls. Stressing the necessity of collective action to dismantle barriers and foster inclusive growth, Mrs. Rafat ignited a sense of urgency and determination among attendees.

The evening reached its emotional zenith with heartfelt testimonials from beneficiaries of TWEET’s livelihood support initiatives. Their stories of resilience, perseverance, and triumph over adversity moved the audience to tears, serving as poignant reminders of the tangible impact of empowerment interventions. Mrs. Rahamathunnissa A and Mrs. Shaista Rafat took pride in honoring these exceptional women, recognizing their invaluable contributions to society.

As the event drew to a close, Ms. Sadaf, an intern with TWEET from the Department of Social Work at Jamia Millia Islamia, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. Expressing gratitude to all participants for their unwavering support and dedication to the cause of women’s empowerment, Ms. Sadaf underscored the importance of collective action in advancing gender equality and empowerment.
