Guwahati — Zahid Mamud, a postgraduate Physics student from The Assam Royal Global University (RGU), has won a prestigious funding grant from CERN — the European Organization for Nuclear Research. He will participate in an international training programme in Spain.
The programme will run from 21 September to 4 October 2025 in Santa Susanna, Spain. Zahid will represent India at the CAS Course on Introduction to Accelerator Physics. He will join a select group of young scientists from around the world.
The course will cover advanced topics in nuclear and accelerator physics. It will give participants exposure to cutting-edge research and technology.
Zahid is a former INSPRE Fellow. His achievement is a milestone for Assam’s academic community. It highlights the state’s growing role in international scientific collaboration.
“This is a proud moment for the entire university,” said RGU Vice Chancellor A.K. Buragohain. He added that Zahid’s recognition by CERN reflects the academic strength of RGU and the potential of its students.
CERN is located near Geneva. It is one of the world’s top centres for particle physics research. Zahid’s selection shows his dedication and the expanding global presence of Indian talent in advanced scientific fields.
