Ghalib Institute hosts seminar on three contemporaries of Mirza Ghalib

New Delhi, 24 Sep: The Ghalib Institute is holding a two-day national seminar on the three important contemporaries of the renowned Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib, namely Sahbai, Azarda, and Shefta. The seminar commenced last evening.

Dr. Idris Ahmed, Director of the Ghalib Institute, has emphasized the significance of these three important contemporaries of the world-renowned poet Ghalib in the Urdu and Persian literatures. The Ghalib Institute has consistently organized various seminars on Ghalib and the Ghalib era, but no formal seminar on these three important figures has been held to date.

The inaugural session started at Aiwan-e-Ghalib (Ghalib Auditorium) at 6:00 pm last evening. It was inaugurated by Mr. Naveed Masood and chaired by Secretary of the Ghalib Institute, Prof. Siddiqur Rehman Qidwai. The renowned Persian scholar Prof. Azarmi Dukht Safavi deliver the keynote address. Dr Fariduddin Farid Asr, Cultural Counsellor of Iran was the special guest on this occasion.

On the second day of the seminar, noted scholars and authors will present their papers on the topic. Various sessions will be presided over by Prof. Atiqullah, Prof. Najma Rahmani, Prof. Khawaja Muhammad Ikramuddin, and Prof. Kausar Mozahari, while sessions will be moderated by Dr. Safina, Dr. Ali Ahmad Idrisi, Dr. Amir Hamza, and Dr. Shadab Shamim.
