New Delhi, October 10, 2023: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has termed the attack on Israel by Hamas as a natural reaction to the atrocities carried out by the Israelis on Palestinians.
In a statement to the media, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, President AIMPLB said, “The ongoing war between Hamas and Israel is very sad and painful. It is clearly a natural reaction to Israel’s wrongdoings and its attacks and desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Terming this (natural) reaction as “terrorism” is empowering the oppressors and committing a grave injustice to the oppressed.
“Undeniably, Israel is an occupying nation that was established by Western powers after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. It came into existence in the shadow of oppression and tyranny. Unfortunately, even after its establishment, Israel was not satisfied with its borders. In 1967, Israel occupied large areas of neighboring countries by force. After that, the United Nations and the Security Council passed several resolutions urging Israel to go back to its pre-1967 borders, but Israel did not pay any attention to it. Unfortunately, the major powers have continued to support Israel despite its refusal to heed the calls made by the international community.
“India’s stated policy from the time of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru till Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is that Israel must heed and implement the UN resolutions. Unfortunately, our current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has broken away from this traditional policy of India regarding the question of Palestine. Instead of supporting the oppressed, we are rallying behind the oppressor. This is extremely sad and shameful for the entire country.
“Palestinians are defending themselves from the atrocities of the Israelis. The solution to the crisis is an immediate ceasefire.
“An independent State of Palestine should be established according to the resolutions of the United Nations. Both Israelis and Palestinians must get justice. I appeal to Muslims to organize prayers for the oppressed Palestinians and offer the Qunut-e-Nazila,” Maulana Rahmani concluded.
