Mobile Hygienic Abattoir Launched

– Mohammed Atherulla Shariff

Bengaluru, June 18: A temporary slaughterhouse model was launched here by the Millat Management Society of India for a clean and orderly way of sacrifice during Eid al-Adha.

Millat Society President Iqbal Ahmed Siddiqui told the media persons that unlike earlier these days the trend of sacrifice has increased. In most cases, Qurbani is offered on behalf of each member of the family. But due to lack of proper facilities at abattoirs sacrifices are offered in the backyards of the houses. The animal waste is also not disposed of in a proper manner leading to a lot of pollution and health problems. Keeping this aspect in mind, the Millat Society has come out with this model, he said.

Explaining the mobile abattoir, Siddiqui said about 40 animals can be sacrificed in one hour. It will be possible to sacrifice 300 to 500 small animals per day in one shed. He said that the feature of this slaughterhouse is that it is a temporary portable shed that can be assembled and dismantled easily. Water consumption will be less. The blood and dirt will be filled in drums and transported outside the city in BBMP tractors.

Mr. Siddiqui said that BBMP people are ready to cooperate in this regard. Community organisations and social institutions should also cooperate in this work.

On this occasion, Prof. Inayatullah, an officer of BBMP, also shed light on environmental pollution. Mr. Azam Shahid, secretary of Millat Management Society, highlighted the objectives of his organization and its activities and said that on the occasion of Qurbani, the work of being safe from pollution and creating awareness about cleanliness was important and necessary.
